These kinds of injuries are generally due to overuse. This occurs when a group of muscles are used repetitively over a sustained period of time placing a stress on a tendon. This can occur in any tendon but are most commonly seen in the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle. If this condition is present you will tend to feel pain in the tendon (strong band of tissue) which attaches a muscle to a bone. The pain generally worsens with use and can stop you from continuing the activity.
Due to the complex nature of the condition, it is important to seek advice from a Physiotherapist. We would manage the condition by providing pain relieving techniques, exercises to strengthen the tendon and advice on returning to normal functioning.
