Ligaments and cartilage injuries
These injuries most commonly occur in contact sports and are caused when the knee joint is forced into an abnormal movement such as; twisting or being forced in/outwards or backwards.
Symptoms may include pain, swelling, stiffness, instability, giving way or locking. You may also hear a loud click or popping sounds at the time of the injury.
Physiotherapy is very important when recovering from this kind of injury especially if you wish to return to sport. We can offer treatments to speed up the healing process, restore the movement available at the knee joint, prescribe exercise programmes to increase your strength, balance and confidence as well as support you throughout the rehabilitation process to allow you to return to your lifestyle prior to your injury.
