8 Top Tips for staying healthy during Lockdown
Our lives have been thrown a massive curve ball in recent weeks since the global pandemic has forced us to stay at home. Being limited to 1 trip out a day is very restrictive and could negatively impact our health both physically and mentally. For this reason, it is important to take steps to ensure you stay healthy.
Here Are My 8 Top Tips To Staying Healthy During This Difficult Time:
1. Plan your week so that you can keep a normal routine. Without routine you will be neglecting important aspects of your wellbeing.
2. Spend time outdoors where possible. Use your time outside to work your heart, lungs and body. You could power walk, run, cycle, skip, whatever challenges you more than you are normally used to.
3. Try out some home workouts to stay strong and mobile. This is where we can help! We are offering free online video call taster sessions to help you stay fit and active. You can read more about this below.
4. Take the added time at home to cook food from scratch. Make planning your meals a fun experience; finding new recipes, picking foods you wouldn’t normally eat making your trip to the supermarket more enjoyable. If you are used to cooking ready made meals then this is an opportunity to learn a new skill or improve your cooking ability. In the last two days I have made a curry and lamb moussaka from scratch for the 1st time. Definitely room for improvement but a really positive aspect to my day.
5. Find time to relax, away from all the stresses that are happening with work, in the news and with family. I find exercise is the best stress reliever for me but you might want to sit in silence, read a book, take a bath or spend some time in the garden or a park. What ever helps you destress, as being at home may become high pressured at times and finding an escape will be vital.
6. Speak to your friends and family on video calls. Seeing their faces will put you at ease (not all friends and family though haha) and it easier to share what has been happening with you face to face rather than a typical phone call. Sharing your stresses and concerns will boost your mood and keep you going.
7. Seek professional support when needed. Even though visiting a health professional’s clinic might not be possible during lock down you can still call and email to get help and advice. We are offering video consultations for those in need of help with pain and injuries during the Covid 19 Pandemic. You can read more about this below.
8. Oversleeping! This might be appealing without a normal routine like going to work or getting the kids up for school. However, oversleeping will make you sluggish during the day, impact the quality of your sleep the next night and affect your mood. This goes back to planning your week. Plan something meaningful in the morning to get you up and going.
I hope these tips help you in some way. They are certainly helping me stay focused and positive while we live through the Corona Virus outbreak.
