My Fitness Journey Continued

I am a great believer that it’s the small changes that make all the difference.  To get fit and healthy you don’t have to be running a silly amount of miles each week, jumping around your front room like a lunatic or lifting ridiculous weights, It’s all about YOU and what YOU enjoying doing.

The first thing you should do is find an exercise or sport which you enjoy, whether it be working out at the gym, running, walking or joining a football team.  If you enjoy doing it you are more likely to carry on with it.

Now I love my exercise, but that’s not saying I enjoy it all, so that’s why I do the workouts I love and it’s what keeps me motivated and focused.

I do workout everyday but I like to mix it up, my favourites are Strength & Conditioning, HIIT and full body workouts using weights.  I am not a great lover of cardio, but do try to add it into my workouts, for me my fitness journey is all about strengthening and toning and my ultimate goal is to have a 6 pack, although this is still very much work in progress !!!

Did you know that strength training helps your body burn calories efficiently, makes you stronger and fitter, helps keep weight off for good, improves general health and helps build long term lifestyle changes – worth thinking about…..?

I have a variety of weights at home which I built up during lockdown, I do love to push myself but I don’t lift to heavy as I don’t want to bulk – it’s all about toning !

However, I don’t always want to lift heavy weights or workout every day, so I often take myself for walks around are local river – it’s a bit of me time, I find it clears your mind, you enjoy your surroundings and it’s a great way to exercise and get fit and healthy without really thinking you are – and the family can get involved to !!!!

The hard part is making exercise a routine habit.  If it feels like a chore or too daunting, you won’t stick to it.  But when exercise is fun you are more likely to stick to getting fit.  Whether it’s gossiping as you run or walk with a friend or laughing and groaning in an exercise class, making exercise social is key to making fitness fun.  Why not give it a try, ask your friend or family member to give it a try and I guarantee it will be best decision you make !

Hope you have enjoyed reading!
