Our Approach to Back Pain
Back pain sucks! It can be disabling, frustrating or just downright annoying. It is extremely common and that is why we focus so much on helping you overcome it. Every therapist approaches back pain differently and that is because there are so many ways to successfully treat it and one way does not fix all. That is why we take a patient centred approach and provide an individually tailored treatment programme rather than treating ever back the same.
We will first find out about you and your back pain, what makes it worse, what makes it better. What you like to do but can’t anymore because of your back and what treatment you have had in the past.
We will then complete a physical assessment looking at your movement quality, areas of pain, flexibility, and strength.
With all the information collected from our assessment we will discuss with you your diagnosis, what you can do to manage you pain, what we can do to treat your back and what you would ultimately like to achieve at the end of the rehab.
And that’s where the rehab process begins. We will use various treatment techniques including joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, massage, stretches and strength exercises. This will reduce your pain, increase your confidence with movement and make you stronger allowing you to work towards your chosen goals.
Any rehab programme is generally non-linear, there is rarely an easy route to recovery and there will be some ups and downs. That is why we support you every step of the way to good health. We will build your confidence, support you when you feel like giving up and drive you when you are moving forward.
Ultimately our approach to back pain is to not let it stop you living a normal, happy life. For so many people that have used our services they have been able to do this very well.
