Get up early
The lighter mornings are upon us! For me, this is my best time to workout – I am such a morning person and most of us are – so why not take advantage of the lighter mornings, get up early and get that morning workout done – whether your going for a run, working out at home or the gym or even a nice brisk walk. Get your body moving, your blood circulating and get yourself set up for the day – you will feel so much better for it and you will thank yourself for making the effort.

Enjoy the outdoors
Spring is such a lovely time of year with the stunning sunrises, the flowers blooming and the birds singing, take advantage and get outside to enjoy what nature has to offer you !!! Take a long walk during your lunchbreak or an early evening stroll – whatever you do get active, lets face it, your lapping everyone who is on the sofa !!!!

Lighten up your food and grow your own
The food we eat has a huge impact on how we feel in ourselves. Winter is the time that we all go to comfort foods, its now time to ditch them and switch to something lighter and more colourful !!! Pack a salad for lunch or add side portion to your dinner plate, start your day with a smoothie or some fresh fruit. Swap your chocolate bar for a bowl of berries while watching the TV. You can’t ignore nutrition when you’re trying to improve your health and fitness.

Why not start to grow your own – eat healthy and save yourself money !!! Now gardening isn’t for everyone but did you know that it’s a great way to burn calories – did you know that you could burn up to 300 calories an hour from a good workout in your garden !

Set a goal
Spring is the time for new beginnings and a new goals to focus on. With the start of warmer weather and the longer days, you have the opportunity to plan your health and fitness around a big goal. Whether it be a big birthday coming up, a wedding the attend or a bikini to get into, if you set a goal you are more likely to stick with it. Why not train with a friend, working out with a friend keeps you both motivated and is more fun with a friend !!!

Getting fit doesn’t have to be difficult – you can start by doing small amounts and you don’t need to spend tons of money on the gym or equipment.

Develop a habit of getting up earlier each day and go for a walk or run. Running is not for everyone, but is however a great workout, walking is a great workout too. A 30-minute walk helps burn around 90-360 calories. Start the day right and the rest of the day will fall into place !

Dancing is a fun way to get fit and have fun while doing it ! Dancing helps tone your body, improves your flexibility and burn mega calories and can also help you get ready for a bikini season fast and keep your weight under control during the summer season. And let’s face it – who doesn’t fancy a dance round the kitchen on a Friday night !!!

Walking is a fantastic, healthy workout and something the whole family and get involved in and also burns mega calories.

Swimming is a great form of cardiovascular exercise. It works multiple muscle groups throughout your body without putting stress on your joints and bones, like other exercises. Plus, it’s a fun activity that you can do with the whole family.

Your daily routine should involve a method of staying active and moving when it’s not during a workout time. Take the stairs instead of the lift or park your car further from your destination. Staying active even during your quiet times are so important.
While gyms and workout groups do have their benefits, if you want to accomplish your fitness goals in your own living room – then go for it. You can do sit ups, squats and push-ups or join an online class as easily in your home as in a gym environment and the privacy can be a plus, too.

After a long winter spent indoors, motivating yourself to get active can be a struggle. But by establishing good habits and prioritising your health, getting in shape is an attainable goal. Just remember to keep moving, keep active and enjoy what you are doing !!!
