– Reduces stress and anxiety levels
– Relaxes both muscles and the entire body
– Promotes quality of sleep
– Provides a feeling of well being

Love the sound of a massage but not sure which type is right for you? Here is a brief guide to help you decide…

Swedish Massage

This is a gentle form of massage that is mainly used for relaxation and to promote a general sense of wellbeing. Swedish massage techniques support healthy circulation and lymph drainage. The
use of a combination of long continuous stokes, kneading, circular movements, vibrations and tapping help to relax, unwind but can also energise you. A Swedish massage is usually a full body treatment that lasts 60 minutes and the addition of soft lighting and relaxing music help can
enhance the overall treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is used to treat musculoskeletal issues and uses similar techniques to Swedish massage but at a much slower pace and increased pressure to target the deeper layers of muscles, tendons and connective tissue under the skin. The techniques encourage blood flow, which help to loosen tight muscles and relax trigger points that cause adhesions and pulled muscles. This modality is highly effective in releasing chronic aches, pains and muscle tension and works for everyone from athletes to those sat at a desk for long periods of time. Deep tissue massage is often administered as a full body treatment although can also target specific areas.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is commonly known as being pre-event, post-event or maintenance. Although it has been primarily designed to help improve performance and reduce pain and injury in sport, fitness and exercise – it’s approach can be beneficial for any individual who takes part in any regular physical activity and those experiencing overuse injuries. Sports massage provides a more targeted approach to realign and loosen muscle fibres and treat minor and chronic injuries and focuses on specific areas that are in need of healing or relief. It utilises a wide range of techniques including compression, direct pressure and cross-fibre frictions – mobilisations and stretching are also part of a sports massage.
